Stopping my SSH connections from stalling

I've had some issues with my SSH connections to my ServerGrove VPS. The issues only happened when I worked in another window for a while, and wanted to use my VPS again after a while. So after a period of inactivity, my SSH terminal wouldn't work anymore. And with wouldn't work, I don't mean those "connection reset by peer"-messages. No, it would be completely stalled and I'd have to close the terminal tab and open a new one.
